Get Up From The Mud

In my book Olenso, I recalled how my older siblings and I travelled on foot to visit relatives in other villages.
The journey was sometimes through swamps in the rainy season when the paths become super slippery.
These slippery paths made falling in the mud easy.
As it happened, when many travelled together, trips and falls became the norm.
My poem
"GET UP FROM THE MUD" was a command a child would hear from the adults, especially if the child had an excuse or someone to blame for falling in the mud.
This analogy has helped me to get up from metaphorical or real mud thrown at me or when I slipped and fell.
Yes, you owe it to yourself to get up from the mud.
"GET UP FROM THE MUD"
Are you lying in the mud waiting for the person who pushed you to apologise before you get up?
Are you waiting for the people to whom your misery is sport to see the error of their ways before you get up?
Are you hoping that the people whose desire is to break you down would come and lift you up?
"Get up from the mud."
You owe it to yourself to get up from the mud.
You owe it to yourself to wash the mud off you.
You owe it to yourself to continue on your journey.
You never set off on a journey to be stuck in mud.
You have a destination.
Remember your dreams and don't allow them to be stolen by those who can't bear to see you succeed.
Your life is not in the hands of those whose purpose is to break you down.
You can do better than lie in the mud.
"Get up from the mud."
No matter how many times you get tripped, get up.
It may just be a test, so be an overcomer.
Show the world and yourself what you are made of.
No one can discard you unless you allow them to.
You were not made to be discarded.
You were made to achieve, so get up from the mud.
Your success depends on how many times you get back up after falling.
And soon, it won't matter who the pushers and trippers are, because you have proven that their schemes and strategies will never keep you down.
"Get up from the mud."
